Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910G Black
The best premium phablet you can find
4/ 5
Pros: - Great performance and display quality - S-Pen functionality is on point and expanded further - Battery life is one of the best in its class. Cons: - Interface still feels somewhat bloated - No dust or water resistance Verdict: The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 may be expensive but even with its flaws, it's the best phablet that money can buy. If you can, however, try and wait for the inevitable Galaxy Note 5's announcement later this year. Review: Samsung is in an interesting spot nowadays. In the past when the Galaxy Note series first came about, the company was capable of selling devices based on quality assurance and performance. However, the past two years have seen a number of competent devices emerge which are capable of high performance at a decent price. With the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge out, how does the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 match up in today's market? Even though it's more than 6 months old, Samsung's flagship phablet is still pretty costly at Rs. 48,051. You can thank that metal chassis and solid leather back for that. Unlike previous Galaxy Notes though, it adds to the overall appeal of the phone. It's strong, sturdy, lightweight at 176 grams and pretty slim at 8.5 mm. The hardware inside is just as reliable although the Galaxy Note 4 includes a quad-core Snapdragon 805 clocked at 2.7 GHz instead of an Exynos Octa CPU. It doesn't make for a radical change in performance though and the 3 GB RAM helps the Note 4 tackle the heaviest of applications with ease. Internal storage is 32 GB with a microSDXC slot providing an additional storage capacity of 128 GB. The standout here is the 5.7 inch, Super AMOLED display with its 2560x1440 resolution. This is really the first time Samsung ever attempted a Quad HD resolution and it looks amazing. From the viewing angles to the colour quality, every single pixel looks razor sharp and perfect. However, it also serves as an excellent template for S Pen functions. The Galaxy Note 4's S Pen is now capable of different degrees of pressure for more nuanced functions like shading. Other new tools like Smart Select allow you to copy text easily and edit it. One can also edit text in real-world images by clicking them using the 16 megapixel camera and digitally editing them in real time. The 3,220 mAh battery is also very strong, averaging 11 to 12 hours of heavy usage. Your average user should be able to use it for a few days at a time before charging again and the addition of an Ultra Power Saving Mode further increases life. Besides the S-Pen, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 also includes a fingerprint sensor and one-handed usage which both work great. Oddly enough, there's no IP67 certification for dust and water resistance (which was present on the Samsung Galaxy S5). Other recommendations: It's not easy to find many premium phablets these days. Samsung has more or less cornered the market. That's why it's good to look at the Samsung Galaxy S6. Despite not featuring S-Pen support, the Samsung Galaxy S6 has an octa-core CPU with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage. Battery life is very strong, the 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display has a 2560x1440 resolution and it sports a much cleaner interface in line with Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is also cheaper at Rs.39,375. The other alternative is the iPhone 6 Plus. Its main claim to fame is the 5.5 inch Retina Display which delivers a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The technology is incredibly fast thanks to a new Apple A8 processor, the design is as sterling as ever (measuring 7.1 mm thick) and the 8 megapixel rear camera actually has image stabilization. The 16 GB model costs a hefty Rs. 54,999 though.

A Truly Excellent Smartphone
4/ 5

- Samsung's S Pen and its functionalities have become the industry standard now. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4's S Pen has an enhanced pressure sensitivity, and is much more precise than ever before.

- The massive 3220 mAh battery pack charges from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes, thanks to its fast charging capabilities. Also, the phone has an Ultra Power Saving mode.

- Being an AMOLED display, the 5.7-inch panel produces some great colors, and the resolution of 1440 x 2560 makes sure that you see even the minutest of details.

- The 16 MP rear camera is simply amazing. This Android smartphone can click detailed images with true to life colors. Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and 4K video recording capabilities adds another feather in its cap.

- The combination of 3 GB RAM and quad-core Snapdragon 805 produces great results, and there aren't many phones that can beat the Galaxy Note 4 in terms of performance.

- The smartphone runs the latest version of Android, and will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow update very soon.

- The loudspeaker is placed on the back of the device, which gets muffled up when the phone is placed with face up.

With amazing features and specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is one of the best smartphones ever produced by Samsung. The S Pen has been improved on and has become more accurate in identifying your handwriting. Samsung has packed in a wonderful display that is complimented by an even better camera system. Though, the speaker is placed on the back, its loudness is phenomenal. Considering all its plus points, it is quite hard to get a better device in this budget.
