Nokia Lumia 710 Black
NOKIA LUMIA 710 - windows in your pocket ;)
4/ 5
MRP: Rs. 15499 PROS: Well built Great video quality Awesome performance Integration with Xbox Live SkyDrive backup Best in market UI CONS: Fully functional Bluetooth lacking Average battery life No front-facing camera No external memory support hey guys, Today we present before you the 2nd flagship windows phone from nokia "THE NOKIA LUMIA 710".It is one of the nokia’s designated entry level smartphone aimed at introducing Windows Phone to the masses .But one should not be fooled by thinking that the cheaper device would get you a lesser experience. The lumia 710 has pretty much the same experience with its more expensive siblings, the lumia 800 and 900.This budget WP 7.5 offering feels and performs like a much more expensive phone. LOOK & FEEL: Being a budget offering, the Lumia 710 comes with a more conventional design, which though looks good is not as attractive as the Lumia 800. Though the quality of most parts of the smartphone are of fairly high standard, physical buttons and back cover of the phone look slightly flimsy. But the Lumia 710 has a 3.7-inch screen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution. However, unlike Lumia 800 which uses clear Black AMOLED screen, the Lumia 710 has only a TFT screen, which has gorilla glass . But like its costlier cousin, the Lumia 710 comes with a 1.4 GHz snapdragon qualcomm processor coupled with 512 MB of RAM. FEATURES: The Nokia Lumia 710 surprisingly has deeper blacks and the text feels a lot crisper, helping mostly with reading web pages and emails. The Nokia Lumia 710's display does have quite a few things going for it. Both the USB port and 3.5 mm jack are at the top along with power and lock buttons. Volume rocker and camera button are on the right side. It has replaceable battery and back cover which comes in five different shades, so you change the phone with your mood!! It has a 5 megapixel camera single LED flash which takes great pictures and takes video at 720p resolution. There are various add on apps which enhance your photography experience. Focusing is also very easy you just need to touch the section you want to focus on. It not just focuses but also snaps the photo at the same time. Nokia has fitted a 1300 mAH battery in the Lumia 710 which is on the smaller side for a smartphone. The phone has decent battery backup and it can run a full day with moderate usage on full recharge. However slightly higher usage means you will have to plug into a charger within a day. With minimal usage one can expect around two days of backup. OPERATING SYSTEM : Windows Phone OS’s Metro UI is possibly the most interesting. On the home screen, you have a bunch of dynamic tiles, some of which have live animations on them. This can be completely modified as per your requirement. To see all apps, just flick open the screen on the right. Now you can vertically scroll through all the apps that are installed on the phone. You can easily personalize the UI though - re-arrange tiles, change accent color and the color of the background and change lock-screen image. INTERNET & APPLICATIONS: The internet surfing experience is awesome with the internet explorer 9 .Deep social integration allows us to sync all contacts from Facebook, twitter etc. Facebook chat and text message is merged into one threaded view , which is quite awesome. Nokia drive is a free voice navigation application. It has 3D landmark, 2D/3D and satellite mode and access to a huge database of POIs. Maps are available in over 100 countries, and are available to download offline in regions or whole countries. Nokia music is available for free download with one year free subscription. The windows marketplace has over 1,00,000 amazing apps to choose from. If the iOS has Apple’s iPod feature built-in, this one has Microsoft’s Zune. Moreover, we the Xbox Live integration, with thousands of games ranging from the classics like snake to NFS Hot-Pursuit which makes it a must have for gaming enthusiasts. Well, there are a few problems with the phone: one cannot just drag and drop files into the phone through pc, it has to be done by syncing the phone via Zune. There is no way of transferring doc or pdf files into the phone other than downloading it from the internet or sending an email to your account and then downloading it on your phone. Video calling is not possible as no front facing cameras are present.a fully functional Bluetooth is also lacking. No external memory support restricts you to only 8 GB of onboard storage. However we have a 25 GB SkyDrive storage. CONCLUSION: So, finally we can draw a conclusion that The Lumia 710 is a good package with good quality, large screen and an attractive price. However, due certain hardware limitations like no expandable memory there have been a few issues in transferring files from PC .But, if you are one of those guys who are not willing to spend more than Rs 20,000 then lumia 710 is a must buy for you , unless you are a total android fanboy !! Specs: Platform: Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango); Processor: Qualcomm MSM8255 @1.4Gz; RAM: 512MB; Display: 3.7-inch (480 x 800 pixels); Storage: 8GB, No card slot; Camera: 5MP with 720p HD videos; Battery: 1300 mAh

Design: The Nokia Lumia 710 is simple priced at 15,500.Built with plastic body the dimensions of the phone are 119 mm,62.4 mm,and 12.7 mm in height, width and thickness. It weights 126 gm.Lumia 710 has Portrait display orientation with 3.7 inch display. For the safety of its screen it has Corning Gorilla Glass. The cover is swappable and is available in many enhancing colours. Interface/Operating System: The Lumia 710 works on Windows platform and phone 7.5 windows operating system. The Nokia Lumia 710 is power by 1.4Ghz processor and 512MB of RAM.The windows 7.5 operating system runs perfectly fine on this device. Feature: The home screen or the start menu of the Nokia Lumia 710 is vertically arranged with live tiles. One can set own personalized tiles on home screen like facebook, messaging, call alerts, e-mail and etc. It gives one live updates on these tiles as well.Nokia Lumia 710 has people inherited, which includes Facebook,Twitter,LinkedIn,e-mail,chat and SMS .For internet access one get Bling ,IE9,HTML,Wi-Fi and browser.Filled with all basic and new home screen feature Nokia has made it value with Lumia 710 but fell short with 512 RAM. Camera: The Nokia Lumia 710 has a 5 megapixels main camera with LED flash light that gives perfect resolution to pictures but Nokia has left their trend leaving Carl Zeiss lens from it. One gets 4X digital Zoom to closely check images and mostly all graphics modes such as JPEG, BMP, etc, to be compatible with all system formats. And no doubt, Nokia has built their image for delivering good quality cameras and Lumia 710 comes with that same quality. The quality one gets with this phone is really amazing. The 5 MP camera shoots video in 720 pixels resolution and the outcome is great. But in this same price range other manufacturers provides HD resolution, which gets hard for Nokia to justify. Audio/Video: The Audio quality of Lumia 710 is clean and clear. But when on loudspeaker mode, the voice is clear but sounds thick. With access to almost all music formats it has media player supporting both audio and video hub. The music section in the media player consists of albums, songs, playlists, genres and artists. And to store all downloaded audios and videos and then there is Podcast section under music folder. With the Lumia 710 one gets 3.5 mm universal handset WH – 208 with which you can tune in to FM too if want to enjoy latest tracks and record to your playlist also. The media player plays all your videos, be it downloaded or recorded video or even live browsed video. It gives you 720 pixels sharp resolution that fits best with 3.7 inches screen size. But it lacks HD trend that gives edge to its competitors. Memory: Lumia 710 provides only 8GB of inbuilt memory with no micro SD card slot. So, one will have to be satisfied with this limited space. Though, it is enough to save one good number of images, few small size videos and data. Battery: The Nokia Lumia 710 offers one 1300 mAh BP – 3L battery which works just OK with the phone, but thanks to the 512 MB RAM which gives this phone smart Talk Time and Stand By Time. The Talk time on 2G is 6.9 hours and 7.3 on 3G, whereas the Stand By time is almost same to around 400 hours both on 2G and 3G. Conclusion: The Lumia 710 of Nokia with this price range has couple of restrictions like, the memory storage is limited to only 8 GB and with no HD video resolution. But apart from these drawbacks Nokia Lumia 710 has made its presence well noticed. Strong 1.4 GHz Qualcomm processor will assure one fast processing and downloading. The 5 MP camera is amazing as it gives you sharp and clear images even in less light or indoor shoot. But with 512 MB of RAM one will have to wait a bit to switch to another programme or apps instead moving quickly on android. The 7.5 Windows operating system is good and fits best in this phone. Overall, we give this phone a 3.5 star rating.

Nokia lumia 710 review
3/ 5
The Nokia Lumia 710 is the second offering into the Windows Phone arena from Nokia, following the release of the Nokia Lumia 800 late last year. The first thing you notice when comparing the Nokia Lumia 710 with its older mobile phone sibling is that the Nokia Lumia 710 looks and feels cheaper. And it is. Where the Nokia Lumia 800 SIM-free price is around £430, the Nokia Lumia 710 is expected to cost a somewhat more economical £300. The reason the Nokia Lumia 710 feels like a cheaper handset is partly down to the weight, coming in at a sprightly 125.5g against the Nokia Lumia 800's 142g. On paper this seems like a good thing, but the smartphone is too light somehow, making it feel unsubstantial compared to its bigger brother. Nokia lumia 710 review In addition to this, the Nokia Lumia 710 screen is recessed slightly, and the transition from the front face of the phone to the sides feels quite angular. The result of this styling is that the phone design doesn't look or feel as coherent as the Nokia Lumia 800. Nokia lumia 710 review Also we found the separate physical buttons for Back, Home and Search on the Nokia Lumia 710 look and feel cheaper than the integral styling on the Nokia Lumia 800, and we caught the bottom left of the screen when going to press the Back button a number of times. Nokia lumia 710 review One major advantage over the Nokia Lumia 800 is that the rear cover is removable, since the Nokia Lumia 710 comes with a replaceable battery. Based on the battery life of the Nokia Lumia 800, the ability to carry a spare battery and swap out may well prove extremely useful. Nokia lumia 710 review With the Nokia Lumia 710, Nokia has returned to the days of the changeable covers - rear at least - to further personalise your mobile phone. Although we're all for changeable covers and phone personalisation, removing the cover feels like something we should be doing as little as possible when we saw the exposed pads onto which the side buttons press. Nokia lumia 710 review Although phones with changeable covers are more commonly marketed at younger users, the only available payment method for Vodafone and T-Mobile customers is by credit card, which many won't have. This seems odd since Microsoft enabled PayPal as a payment method on the Xbox 360 late last year, and those transitioning from Symbian handsets are used to having the option to pay via their phone bill. Nokia lumia 710 review It seems that at present, if you are interested in buying a Windows Phone, then you're best off with Orange, which is supporting pay via phone bill with Microsoft. Nokia lumia 710 review When we compared the size of the Nokia Lumia 710 (119 x 62.4 x 12.48mm) with the Nokia Lumia 800 (116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1mm), we were surprised to find it was the larger of the two. The only reason we could find for this was the extra mechanics required for a removable cover and replaceable battery in the Nokia Lumia 710. Nokia lumia 710 review The Nokia Lumia 710 and Nokia Lumia 800 share the same screen size (3.7 inches) and resolution (480 x 800p), although the Nokia Lumia 710 is limited to a ClearBlack TFT compared to the ClearBlack AMOLED on the Nokia Lumia 800. They also both use Gorilla Glass, making them somewhat bomb-proof. The similarities continue to the processor, with both phones using the 1.4GHz single-core Qualcomm MSM8255T Scorpion/Snapdragon chip.
