Nokia Lumia 625 Yellow
Nokia Lumia 625 Review: Could have been better!
*********** Expert Review *********** Smartphones are becoming larger and larger. If the Samsung Galaxy Note didn’t prove that there’s a market for large mobile devices, then the existence of the Samsung Galaxy Mega should. However, we rarely see such devices on the Windows Phone side, until now. With the Nokia Lumia 625, the emphasis is on bringing out a large display Windows Phone 8 device in the same budget segment to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Grand. The device is unique in such a sense and arguably makes in more power than the Galaxy Grand. It features the same unibody design with a sharp black bezel and a colourful back panel that can be removed and replaced with other designs. Build quality is strong overall, and the device actually measures a decent 0.36 inches despite weighing in at 159 grams. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 2, ensuring further stability and protection. Specs The Nokia Lumia 625 features a dual core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. It also features a microSD slot that provides up to 64 GB more of space. Windows Phones are on a different scale when it comes to performance. They don’t suffer from the same limitations that lesser RAM visits upon Android devices. As such, the Lumia 625 operates smoothly and there’s no visible hint of slowdown. The 4.7 inch curved TFT display has an 800x480 resolution, which boasts decent viewing angles and brightness levels. While the display size isn’t anywhere near the level of what Android devices are doing, it’s still the biggest Windows Phone 8 device currently available. Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2G and Wi-Fi hotspot creation. The 5 megapixel primary camera lacks the Carl Zeiss Optics or BSI sensor that has made other Lumia devices famous. It’s still capable of full HD video recording and takes decent shots overall with features like touch focus, white balance, auto and manual exposure, etc. present. The Nokia Lumia 625 battery life relies on a 2000 mAh cell that can provide a good 8-9 hours of life with average usage, thus ensuring a solid day under lesser use. There isn’t much else to say about Windows Phone 8 OS at this point. App support is stronger, and the bundled programs are both numerous and useful with Flickr, Picasa, Gtalk, and more featured. Pros: - Large screen with decent display quality - Performance is smooth - Above average battery life - Build quality and overall design is appealing Cons: - Internal storage could have been higher - Camera lacks more advanced features - Not very good value for money Verdict: The Nokia Lumia 625 isn’t very different from other Windows Phone devices from the company in this range. Considering how affordable the HTC 8X has become the Lumia 625 feels like a rip-off despite the large screen. Opt for the 8X instead if you want a WP8 smartphone with an HD display and better optics, even if it costs a few bucks extra.

One of the best buy but too common with Lumia 620
The Nokia Lumia 1520 may be the first true Windows Phone 8 phablet, but it’s not the first Lumia with a large screen. That honour goes to the Nokia Lumia 625, which caters to a budget segment. Featuring a dual core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon S4, 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, it provides some fairly decent performance overall and UI navigation is smooth. A microSD slot provides 64 GB extra space. The 4.7 inch, 800x480 resolution display isn’t anything special and lacks IPS technology like Micromax and Lava XOLO phones in this range. Nonetheless, colour quality and brightness levels manage to hold up. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and 2G round out the connectivity options, while the 5 megapixel rear camera covers the photography side. Though Nokia is famed for its optics, Carl Zeiss Optics and a BSI sensor are absent thus stunting low-light and day time photography. It’s still good for average usage, as long as you don’t expect professional results. The battery life hovers around 7.5 to 8 hours thanks to the 2000 mAh cell inside. Average usage is a bit longer and it will be enough to get you through the day. Windows Phone 8 OS lacks the higher features provided by the Black Update and 8.1, but still functions extremely well. Verdict: More screen space – that’s the Nokia Lumia 625’s biggest sales pitch. If that sounds good enough for you, it’s worth a look but it honestly doesn’t improve much on the Lumia 620.

Great screen with good performance
The Nokia Lumia 625 isn’t your typical Windows 8 smartphone. It has a 1.2 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4, 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage with a microSD slot for 64 GB more, thus placing it in the budget smartphone category. But it also has a 4.7 inch display with an 800x480 resolution, which is unusual for Windows phones in this range. Regardless, as an overall device, it’s very much like the recently released Lumia 620/720. You’ll find little slowdown and display quality is fairly good. The latter’s only flaw is that it isn’t qHD or HD compared to most budget Android smartphones at the same price. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2G and 3G. A 5 megapixel rear camera may seem underpowered, especially since there’s no Carl Zeiss Optics, but it’s still good with picture taking in a variety of settings. Battery life is also decent with 2000 mAh cell netting roughly 8 hours of heavy usage. Screen-on time won’t be as high as you’d like but it’s still better than other similarly priced devices. Windows Phone 8 is sadly lacking the new Black update – which is a shame given the larger screen real estate for extra LiveTiles - but app support is improved at least. Verdict: If you’ve ever wanted a cheap Windows Phone 8 device but have been turned off by the smaller screen sizes, the Nokia Lumia 625 is for you, even if it’s exactly similar in specs to the cheaper Lumia 620.

Nokia Lumia 625 : Great Looks-Great Features!
It's been 6 months since this phone keeps ringing time and again, am quite happy about it. The phone has served me well, screen size is good enough to accommodate videos, navigability is not a problem. For a Windows user this phone has enough to offer, battery life is not disappointing at all unlike other smartphones. One can download few favorite songs without having to buy an extra card, memory is good enough. Relatively easy to send and read email, though I doubt whether there s a gmail app for windows. Camera indeed serves the purpose it is used for. Overall, a good phone. Looks are great also. But of you are a gaming person then it is not for you.
