HTC One M8 Eye Black
Strong features and good value for money
Pros: - Excellent camera sensor - Good performance and display - Sleek design and improved interface Cons: - Some camera features feel tacked on - Low light performance could've been better - Lacks Android 5.0 Verdict: The HTC One (M8 Eye) comes at a very competitive time. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is signaling a triumphant return for the brand and the LG G4 will be out later this month. Fortunately, HTC manages to deliver some strong selling points including a great camera, reliable performance and beautiful design. At Rs. 30,999 the HTC One (M8 Eye) is definitely worth looking into. Review: The HTC One (M8 Eye) is an evolution to the company's flagship that aims for a better camera than its predecessors. After the UltraPixel and Duo Camera innovations, HTC is back to a regular 13 megapixel sensor with the One (M8 Eye). What does the "Eye" moniker entail though and is there anything else to look forward to? One thing that hasn't changed is HTC's eye, so to speak, for impeccable design and detail. The HTC One (M8 Eye) curved back panel made of aluminum feels and looks exquisite. Measuring 9.35 mm thick and weighing 160 grams, the HTC One (M8 Eye) is easy to handle and quite tough. Another hallmark of the One franchise is its display. You'll be hard pressed to find any fault with the HTC One (M8 Eye)'s 5 inch screen. The 1920x1080 resolution looks incredibly sharp and HTC's SuperLCD 3 technology is once again in full effect. It offers stellar colour quality and great viewing angles all-around. Whether its movie playback, web browsing, apps or just messing about with features, the screen is a real beauty. So how does the 13 megapixel BSI sensor fare with its f/2.0 aperture and 28 mm lens? As it turns out, the greater number of megapixels leads to better looking images with more well-rounded colours and low noise levels. The Duo Camera returns and is meant for selective defocus of the background. This is ineffective in tight close-ups though. New features like Face Fusion and Copy/Paste are hit or miss (more of the latter really) but the overall set-up is a better camera solution than the original HTC One (M8). It's worth noting that low-light performance is good but decidedly a step down. The 1080p video recording is spot on though. The HTC One (M8 Eye) relies on a Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB internal storage and a microSD slot for up to 128 GB more. Performance wise, it's absolutely lag-free and navigating Android 4.4.4 KitKat and Sense 6.0 is better than ever. Battery life with the 2600 mAh capacity isn't too shabby either, averaging 8 to 9 hours of continuous usage off of a single charge. Other recommendation: The biggest advantage that HTC One (M8 Eye) has going for it is the price. There aren't a lot of mobiles offering such a strong camera sensor for Rs. 31K. Luckily, there's the Motorola Moto X (2nd generation). It's very cheap these days at Rs. 21,999 and offers a Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage (no microSD slot). The 5.2 inch OLED display has a 1920x1080 resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Even the rear camera sensor has a 13 megapixel optical resolution. While the display isn't as beautiful and the camera not as amazing as the HTC One (M8 Eye), the Moto X (2nd gen) does make for an excellent smartphone overall. And it even has a stock version of Android 5.0 Lollipop!

There is no doubt in the fact that HTC One M8 Eye is a brilliant device. It is one of the more affordable options offered by HTC. It comes with the Ultra Pixel rear camera, which is kind of rare to find currently. However the IR blaster and the wide angle lens was skipped with this flagship model. It also has a superb metallic finish which will look really good in your hands.
